A Northern California lottery player will get a chunk of money for the next 25 years after winning a massive prize.

Roseann Saporita bought a $2 Set for Life scratch-off from a MD Liquor & Food in Santa Rose, the California Lottery said in a June 4 news release.

Saporita played the game, and it revealed a $1.2 million prize, lottery officials said.

Instead of taking the lump sum option, Saporita chose to get a $4,000 monthly payment for the next 25 years.

Another player won the same prize in Southern California.

Hugo Brenes bought a ticket from a Mobil Station in Lakewood, which is in Los Angeles County, the lottery office said.

Unlike Saporita, Brenes decided to take the lump sum option of $696,000.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
