A “spunky” kitten is a “one-eyed wonder” — and she needs a home.

“Allie is 8 weeks of pure feline charm, with one eye and a full heart,” a North Carolina animal shelter wrote June 5 on Facebook. “She recently had surgery to remove an eye, but she’s not letting that slow her down — unless, of course, she spots a cozy lap. Then she’s all in for snuggles, purring like a tiny motorboat.”

Burlington Animal Services said Allie is up for adoption after she arrived in mid-May. She was sick when she was found in nearby Snow Camp, a roughly 25-mile drive southeast from Greensboro, the shelter wrote in an online adoption profile and in an email to McClatchy News.

“She was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, which also affected one of her eyes,” Sydney Herron, community engagement manager for the shelter, wrote in the email. “Despite treatment, it became clear that the best option for her health and comfort was to remove the damaged eye.”

After surgery, the shelter reports that Allie is having a smooth recovery. She’s described as a “sweet and spunky kitten” who can’t get enough of feather toys.

While Allie is getting accustomed to being around dogs, she loves playing with other cats. The little one often invades people’s personal space for cuddles.

“She’s affectionate with both adults and kids, enjoys climbing on you, and purrs nonstop when she gets attention,” the shelter wrote. “Allie’s a resilient, loving kitten who’s ready to bring joy, snuggles, and a little sass into her new home.”

As of June 6, Allie was living in a foster home as she waited for a new owner. Details about the shelter’s adoption process can be found at burlingtonnc.gov/2207/animal-services.
