Lottery player thinks she’s dreaming after checking Powerball ticket in Maryland
A Maryland lottery player made a “dream-like discovery” after checking her ticket in the early morning.
The La Plata woman used her lottery app to check her “Powerball Quick Pick ticket from the June 25 drawing” at 2:30 a.m., Maryland Lottery officials said in a June 30 news release.
When she saw she had won $50,000 by matching four white balls and the Powerball, the woman was unsure if it was real.
“But she soon realized it wasn’t a dream” and told her husband and sons about her prize, according to lottery officials.
The retired government worker told lottery officials she plans to spend her winnings on home improvements.
La Plata is about a 70-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.
