Gastonia mail carrier finds feces addressed to Hillary Clinton

A Gastonia mail carrier intercepted an envelope filled with feces last Friday, according to the Gaston Gazette. The intended recipient? Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The Gazette reported that the carrier made the unpleasant discovery in the mailbox of a house on Union Road in Gastonia.

After noticing the repulsive smell and smudges, the carrier notified the acting postmaster. The incident was eventually handed off to Postal Inspector Justin Crooks, the Gazette reported.

Though sometimes suspicious envelopes and packages are later returned to the sender, Crooks said he doesn’t suspect the fecal envelope will be sent back or kept.

Crooks said the Secret Service was notified, but that the sender most likely will not face charges. According to the Gazette, Crooks said this is because the contents were not explosive or harmful, though they could be considered hazardous.

The packaging was a standard business reply envelope without a return address.

The mail carrier did not report the address of the home where the envelope was found, the Gazette reported.
