Traffic delays possible Tuesday as Vice President Biden is in Columbia

Columbia drivers should plan their Tuesday morning commutes knowing that traffic delays are possible.

Vice President Joe Biden will be headed to Allen University on Harden Street for a breakfast with S.C. Democrats, including state Sen. Vincent Sheheen of Camden, who is running for governor. Then, Biden will attend a “Commit to Vote” rally, hosted by the S.C. Democratic Party at 10:30 a.m.

Afterward, Biden will head back to the airport.

For security reasons, the route and timing of the vice president’s motorcade are not announced. But traffic between Columbia Metropolitan Airport and downtown could snarl as that motorcade makes its way to Allen – possibly shutting down streets in West Columbia and downtown.
