U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson’s 2 Democratic challengers to debate
The two Democratic challengers to U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-Lexington, have agreed to debate next month.
Sean Carrigan and Annabelle Robertson are seeking the Democratic nomination in South Carolina’s 2nd District. They will debate at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Palmetto State Progressive Summit in Columbia.
Progress South Carolina, which is hosting the event, also has invited Wilson, the 17-year incumbent Republican, to take part in the debate but has not received a response, the group said in a statement.
Carrigan, a Chapin resident, is a 28-year Army veteran. Robertson is an Aiken attorney and Indivisible member.
On Friday, Feb. 2, the summit will host a debate between the two Democratic candidates for governor, state Rep. James Smith of Columbia and Charleston businessman Phil Noble.
