Joe Biden will make his SC 2020 debut this weekend in Columbia

Former Vice President Joe Biden will make his 2020 campaign debut in Columbia on Saturday.

Biden will hold a public event in the Hyatt Park Community Center at 3 p.m. on Saturday, according to his campaign.

The speech will “lay out his vision for rebuilding America’s middle class and unifying America,” a press release said.

This will be Biden’s first appearance in Columbia since announcing his candidacy for president last week.

Joe Biden quickly became the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination to run against Donald Trump next year, with most national polls showing him leading a crowded pack of Democratic contenders.

Biden is probably the most well-known Democratic candidate after serving eight years as President Barack Obama’s vice president and, before that, after representing Delaware in the U.S. Senate for 36 years.

Later on Saturday, Biden will attend a private fundraiser in Columbia at 6 p.m., the campaign said.
