‘Fox & Friends’ will be at a Columbia restaurant ahead of SC Democratic primary
The popular “Fox & Friends” morning news and commentary show will broadcast a segment from a Columbia restaurant Wednesday morning, hours after the Democratic presidential debate wraps up in Charleston.
The Lizard’s Thicket restaurant at 818 Elmwood Ave. in downtown Columbia will host Fox News correspondent Todd Piro, who will be reporting on reactions to the Tuesday night debate as well as general news of the day.
On Saturday, South Carolina will hold the “First in the South” Democratic presidential primary election, which is drawing political and media attention from around the country this week.
Fox News Channel’s signature “Fox & Friends” morning program boasts a particular connection to South Carolina: co-host Ainsley Earhardt is a Columbia native and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and she started her broadcast career as a reporter for local TV news station WLTX.
In April 2018, Earhardt and “Fox & Friends” broadcast live from the USC campus in Columbia. The show also has filmed at another Lizard’s Thicket location in Columbia in the past.
Earhardt will not be in Columbia for Wednesday’s show.
The show, which airs from 6-9 a.m., will drop in on the Columbia restaurant each hour during its broadcast Wednesday, according to a “Fox & Friends” spokesperson.
Members of the public are welcome to visit the restaurant and have the opportunity to speak with Piro during the broadcast. The restaurant will open early around 5:15 a.m. to set up for broadcasting.
