VP Kamala Harris back in SC Friday to address Democrats before primary elections

Vice President Kamala Harris will headline the South Carolina Democratic Party’s Blue Palmetto Dinner Friday night, the state party announced Monday.

The dinner is the first night of the two-day state Democratic Party convention in Columbia.

Harris will be joined by second gentleman Douglas Emhoff in her second visit to South Carolina since becoming vice president. She visited the Upstate last year to encourage people to take the COVID-19 vaccine, but visited the state a handful of times as a presidential candidate in the state’s 2020 Democratic primary.

“South Carolina Democrats can’t wait to welcome Vice President Harris and Mr. Emhoff back to South Carolina. We are excited that we can thank Vice President Harris for her hard work on behalf of the people of South Carolina,” said Trav Robertson, chairman of the S.C. Democratic Party.

Harris’ visit comes four days before the June 14 statewide primary election.

She previously spoke at the state party’s convention in 2019 when she was running for president.
