Have you had pregnancy-related health complications in SC? We want to hear from you
Women in the United States are dying from pregnancy-related causes at higher rates than in any other developed nation. And for every woman who dies there are another 75 to 100 who suffer severe health consequences due to pregnancy or childbirth.
In South Carolina, the problem is particularly acute. The Palmetto State has for years had one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the nation. Black women, regardless of income or educational level, are especially at risk, dying at rates roughly 3 times that of white women.
