President Biden is coming to the Midlands Thursday. Here’s what to expect
President Joe Biden is traveling to South Carolina to tout an investment that will “create hundreds of good-paying jobs,” White House officials announced.
On Thursday, President Biden will deliver remarks at Flex LTD in West Columbia on a clean energy manufacturing investment, touting the progress of his economic plan.
“This private sector investment would not happen without President Biden and Congressional Democrats passing the Inflation Reduction Act,” the White House said in a statement. “This investment will continue the boom in construction of manufacturing facilities, which we saw continue to rise this week.”
Although the president visited South Carolina last August for vacation, it’s the first time he’s returning to the Midlands since 2021 and the first since South Carolina was selected to host the first Democratic presidential primary.
Biden’s visit comes as he launched a three-week roadshow to multiple states, showcasing his administration’s infrastructure, manufacturing and clean energy projects. At his West Columbia stop, the president will be highlighting the “smart investments” pillar of his “Bidenomics” plan, which he rolled out in a speech in Chicago last week.
Here’s what to expect during the visit.
Time and location
The president will speak at Flex LTD, located at 1000 Technology Drive, West Columbia, S.C. 29170.
He’s expected to give remarks there in the afternoon.

Biden is slated to arrive at Columbia Metropolitan Airport ahead of his Flex LTD visit. While specific traffic impacts were not immediately known, it’s safe to say the general proximity between Flex LTD and and the airport will be impacted. The business is located just about a mile from the airport.
A no-fly zone will be in place from 11:15 am to 3:30 pm, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
