President Biden to visit South Carolina, North Carolina to view Hurricane Helene damage

President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit South Carolina Wednesday as part of a survey of damage from Hurricane Helene, the White House announced.

Biden plans to take an aerial tour of western North Carolina, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene.

According to the White, Biden will arrive at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport at 1:20 p.m. and then an aerial tour of areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a temporary flight restriction will be in place over the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport from 12:30 to 3:15 p.m. A temporary flight restriction will be over Asheville, North Carolina from 1 to 2:15 p.m.

On his way to North Carolina, Biden will “engage with first responders and state and local officials in South Carolina,” the White House said.

Gov. Henry McMaster, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and other members of the state’s congressional delegation are scheduled to brief Biden on recovery efforts in South Carolina.

After Biden’s visit to the Upstate, he will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, the White House announced.
