With Republicans set to kick off their presidential debates Thursday, Democrats announced Thursday they too will hold six presidential debates, including one in South Carolina.

The S.C. debate will be held Jan. 17 in Charleston. It will be on NBC and will be co-sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute and the S.C. Democratic Party.

The site and time will be announced.

Other Democratic debates include:

Oct. 3: Nevada, on CNN

Nov. 14: Des Moines, Iowa, on CBS/KCCI/Des Moines Register

Dec. 19: Manchester, N.H., ABC/WMUR

February or March: Miami, Fla., Univision/Washington Post

February or March: Wisconsin, PBS

“In 2007, South Carolina hosted the first debate, and we are proud to continue our tradition of involvement by hosting the last debate before voting begins in the 2016 caucuses and primaries,” said S.C. Democratic Party chairman Jamie Harrison.

Voters will cast the first ballots of the 2016 primary season on Feb. 1 at the Iowa caucuses.
