Want your voice heard by SC lawmakers? Here’s a guide to their contact info, socials

South Carolina lawmakers decide how to spend taxpayers’ money, when to raise taxes and whether to impose stricter abortion bans, but their constituents can have a say in the state house.

To sway lawmakers, residents can contact their House or Senate member through their state house office in Columbia, by phone or email. Some lawmakers also make their personal or business phone numbers available. Lawmakers active on social media may be responsive to direct messages or comments.

Showing up to hearings, testifying or submitting written responses to legislation is also a way to be heard. Future hearings are listed and broadcast on the state house website, and the House and Senate agendas are posted daily during session.

To keep their districts informed, many House and Senate members post on social media, newsletters or websites with updates from the state house. Some legislators also hold town halls in their district. Lawmakers’ votes and sponsored bills are listed on their legislative page online.
