S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson names new chief deputy
State Attorney General Alan Wilson named Robert Bolchoz on Friday as his new second-in-command.
Bolchoz will assume the position of chief deputy attorney general Jan. 2. He replaces John McIntosh, who is retiring after nearly 20 years.
McIntosh served under three attorneys general since 1998 and has worked for the agency since 1995, according to a release by Wilson’s office. Before that, McIntosh worked as an assistant public defender and chief deputy solicitor. He also worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Wilson called McIntosh “one of the most experienced and respected prosecutors” in South Carolina.
“John’s legal knowledge is second-to-none and to work with him and learn from him has been invaluable to me,” said Wilson in a statement.
Bolchoz, who served as chief deputy attorney general from 1995 to 1998 under former Attorney General Charlie Condon, started his career as a law clerk for the late Gov. Carroll Campbell.
Bolchoz ran unsuccessfully for attorney general during the Republican primary in 2010 and for Columbia City Council in 2012.
