Who will Joe Biden pick as his running mate? Here’s what Vegas betting odds show

With the Democratic primary field down to one candidate, attention has turned to who former Vice President Joe Biden will pick as his running mate.

While pundits are discussing the options, bookmakers in Las Vegas are setting betting lines for who Biden will pick. Sites listing the odds agree that Sen. Kamala Harris is the favorite.

Biden has said several times that he is committed to having a woman as his running mate in the 2020 general election. Lots of names have come up in recent weeks as Biden locked down the nomination, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former first lady Michelle Obama, Georgia’s Stacey Abrams, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Popular betting site Bovada puts Harris as the favorite with +200 odds. She’s followed by Sen. Amy Klobuchar at +300 and Whitmer at +500. The odds are lower for Warren at +700 and Abrams at +1,000.

Those odds mean that if you bet $100 on Harris, you’d win $200. But if you put $100 down on Whitmer, you’d win $500.

Betting site 888sports also puts the best odds on Harris, according to Bookies.com. That site list Harris as +130 and Klobuchar at +400. The British betting site puts Whitmer at +500, Abrams at +650 and Elizabeth Warren at +1,000.

European betting sites Betfair has a similar spread for possible running mates, according to gambling site Action Network. Betfair puts Harris at +150, Whitmer and Klobuchar both at +500, Abrams at +600 and Warren at +1,000.

Whitmer, the Michigan governor, is one of the newer names in the possible running mate pool after she got national attention for her response to the coronavirus pandemic and was criticized by Trump and his administration.
