Election results in Cayce. Here’s who won seats on city council.

With two city council seats up for grabs in Cayce, voters chose two new faces to represent District 1 and District 3 on Tuesday.
With all five precincts reporting, newcomer Alice Rose was elected to District 3 with 54.28% of the votes, according to unofficial results from the Lexington County elections office. lncumbent Hunter Sox got 45.43% of the vote. With all precincts reporting in District 1, Tiffany Aull beat out Ron Wright with 61% of the vote, unofficial results showed.
Rose, a stay-at-home mom and former restaurant worker, will represent the district made up of a handful of neighborhoods southeast of Airport Boulevard. The District 1 seat was left open after Mayor Pro-Tem Tim James decided not to seek reelection. District 1 is mostly made up of the Avenues, a historic downtown area.
The election of two new faces to the city’s five-person council comes as council members have been publicly at odds with the city’s longtime Mayor Elise Partin. Less than a week before the election took place, the city released a report into alleged misconduct by Partin.
Since July of last year, the city has seen two city managers, two police chiefs and its finance director leave.
Aull told The State that her priorities for the city were to “cultivate a positive workplace culture, deliver effective and efficient city services and encourage responsible growth while making Cayce a business-friendly community.” She had previously run for the same seat in 2020 and was defeated by James by just one vote.
Rose got involved in city politics when a hotel began being constructed behind her neighborhood. She ran on a platform of thoughtful growth.
“I felt like [the neighborhood] deserved better,” Rose told The State. “We decided to go to the city council meeting on Aug. 5, I was getting ready and I looked over at my husband and I said, ‘I think I’m going to have to run for city council.’”
The two new faces also represent a demographic shift on the city’s council. The council is made up of four men and one woman, Partin, but with the election of Rose and Aull, will be 3 women to 2 men.
