Billionaire pushing for Trump impeachment opens fire on SC’s Lindsey Graham in new ad

The billionaire hedge fund manager heading up a campaign to impeach President Donald Trump has turned his eye towards South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham.

In a new ad that aired Thursday, Steyer’s group Need to Impeach called Graham out for siding repeatedly with the president, especially in a case where he rejected a bill that had unanimous, bipartisan support in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Lindsey Graham is scared of Donald Trump and won’t stand up for South Carolina,” the voice over said.

The ad pointed to Graham’s move to quash a bill that would make Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s final report in his investigation of Trump public, which was passed unanimously by the House.

“We need to remind Senator Graham that he works for us, not Trump,” the ad said.

Graham blocked a vote on the bill earlier this month, telling the Charleston Post and Courier that, “We don’t want partial transparency. We want full transparency of 2016.”

The South Carolina politician said he wanted the FBI to release information about an investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president, the Post and Courier reported. Graham also tried to call for an appointment of a new special counsel to look into Clinton’s emails.

“Lindsey Graham has no business holding an elected office if his primary incentive is Donald Trump’s approval,” Steyer said in a statement. “The American people deserve a full view of the investigation into Trump’s criminal offenses, period. Any attempt to hinder that view is a political play meant to support the president’s continued obstruction of justice and distract from the obvious: Trump is guilty.”
