Carly Fiorina has called out Ted Cruz for saying just what he needs to get elected. She has questioned his longstanding dual citizenship and criticized him on other grounds. But the former tech executive, who has since endorsed Cruz, is expected to become his vice presidential pick in a “major announcement” the Republican senator is making Wednesday.

Fiorina, while a presidential candidate herself, derided Cruz early this year on CNN for saying “whatever he needs to say to get elected” and questioned the fact that he did not renounce his dual Canadian citizenship until 2014. But after endorsing Cruz last month, Fiorina has papered over her criticisms by suggesting they were disagreements on strategy, not principle, according to CNN.

Cruz’s campaign began vetting possible seconds-in-command this month, and included Fiorina’s name on his shortlist, according to CNN.

NBC had footage showing the former Hewlett-Packard executive in Indianapolis ahead of Ted Cruz’s “major announcement” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, as Reuters, citing WMUR-TV, reported that Cruz is expected to make Fiorina his vice presidential candidate.

Cruz’s announcement follows Democratic presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders listing women they would put on the ticket if they became their party’s nominee.
