ELECTION 2014: Bowers' pitch to gain support for US senate run
Columbia pastor Det Bowers' new U.S. senate campaign is trying to woo supporters in a field that already has four other GOP challengers trying to unseat Lindsey Graham.
His son, Trevor, sent an email Thursday to potential backers:
"We realize and understand the enormity of this undertaking, but we believe we can win. This belief is based on several factors that have already been realized. Dad has been traveling the state and talking to voters – voters who want a change in how the government works and how it represents them. ... When (the) campaign financial filing period arrives, we will post a cash-on-hand number that shows the fundraising prowess needed to be a viable candidate."
Trevor Bowers also pitched potential backers outside South Carolina with how this race affects them.
"Because of the wide-reaching nature of the United States Senate – each Senator has a voice in leading and shaping the entire country. In short, the decisions and votes a Senator makes affect us all."
