MORNING BUZZ: Senate Finance to debate SC budget, bond bill+ Lindsey Graham to speak at pro-life gala

State Senate Finance committee to continue budget talks

A panel of SC senators will decide a number of spending issues, including whether to give more money to K-12 schools, give state workers a pay increase and hire more Social Services child-welfare workers. They could also decide whether to cut spending in certain areas.

The Senate Finance Committee will meet after the Senate adjourns in Gressette Room 105. The budget is on the meeting agenda along with a bond bill that Senate Finance Chairman Hugh Leatherman, R-Florence introduced on Monday.

Lindsey Graham to speak at Campaign for Life event

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-Seneca, will be the keynote speaker at the Susan B. Anthony List ‘Campaign for Life Gala’ at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington. Graham will speak at 9:10 p.m.

Graham is the lead sponsor on a proposal, which has gone nowhere, that would ban abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy except in certain cases such as the life of the mother, incest or rape.
