SC politics: Walker rolls out SC organizers
Republican presidential hopeful Scott Walker has rolled out a list of several dozen people helping organize his S.C. campaign.
The Wisconsin governor announced a team of activists and leaders Wednesday that he says will help get his campaign in order throughout the state.
State Rep. Ralph Norman, R-York, is aiding Walker’s efforts in the Rock Hill area. And in the Upstate, Rep. Garry Smith, R-Greenville, is helping lead the campaign.
Joanne Jones, second vice chairwoman of the GOP in Charleston County, is marshalling efforts in the Lowcountry.
Allen Olson, a founder of the Columbia Tea Party, is working with the campaign in the Midlands region.
Russell Fry wins GOP runoff in State House District 106
Attorney and former Horry County executive committeeman Russell Fry has won the runoff for the GOP nomination in State House District 106 on the Grand Strand.
Local media outlets report Fry captured 60 percent of the vote on Tuesday in defeating Horry County Councilman Tyler Servant. The two were the top vote-getters in last month’s four-way GOP primary.
Rep. Nelson Hardwick had held the seat for a decade before resigning in May after an investigation into a sexual harassment complaint by a House staffer.
There is no Democrat running in November in the district that includes Surfside Beach and Garden City.
Graham’s presidential campaign spends 3rd day in SC
U.S. Sen Lindsey Graham continued a presidential campaign swing through his home state Wednesday with a stop at a Republican lunch in York County.
Graham spent Monday in the Upstate talking about how he is against President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran.
On Tuesday, he was in Columbia, criticizing the president’s foreign policy choices again and announcing members of his S.C. National Security Coalition.
