Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is opening a field office in Greenville on Thursday, his campaign said.
The campaign is hosting an open-house event at 5:30 p.m. at the Greenville office, located at 730 South Pleasantburg Drive. Jonathan Tasini, author of a book about Sanders, will speak at 6:30 p.m.
The Upstate campaign post is the third the U.S. senator from Vermont and self-described “democratic socialist” has opened in South Carolina. The campaign also has offices in Columbia and Charleston.
Sanders is in third place in the most recent poll of the state’s Democratic presidential primary with 18 percent support, trailing Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton at 49 percent and Vice President Joe Biden at 24 percent.
