S.C. Democrats’ dinner to feature party’s presidential hopefuls

All four Democratic presidential hopefuls will speak at the “First in the South Dinner” in Charleston next weekend, the S.C. Democratic Party said Friday.

The lineup for the Jan. 16 dinner features former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Willie Wilson of Chicago.

U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn of Columbia, Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and S.C. Democratic Party chairman Jaime Harrison also will give remarks.

The dinner, which has sold out, kicks off a weekend of Democratic politics in the state.

Clyburn will host his "World Famous Fish Fry" at the Charleston Visitors Center, 375 Meeting St., from 8 to 10 p.m. Jan. 16.

Qualifying candidates will take part in a Democratic debate Jan. 17 in Charleston.
