A reverend whose wife was shot and killed in a racially motivated church shooting in Charleston last year is praising Hillary Clinton on her commitment to gun control in a new ad.
The Democratic presidential frontrunner’s 30-second TV ad, airing statewide starting this weekend, features the Rev. Anthony Thompson, husband of Myra Thompson, who was attending a Bible study at Mother Emanuel AME Church when she and eight others were shot and killed.
In the ad, Anthony Thompson talks about the phone call informing him of the shooting at the church and said he thought at the time, “we need to make some changes.”
“Hillary is really committed to making sure that the guns don’t get into the wrong hands,” he says.
