State Rep. Mary Tinkler, D-Charleston, does not plan to seek re-election to her S.C. House seat, instead running for Charleston County treasurer.

Tinkler is in her first term in the House, having succeeded former S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell. Harrell pleaded guilty to using campaign money for personal expenses, agreeing to resign his House seat and not seek public office for three years.

In the general election, Tinkler defeated a Green Party candidate.

Other State House races include:

▪  York County Republican Party chairman Wes Climer plans to challenge longtime state Sen. Wes Hayes, a legislator since 1985 in both the House and Senate. Climer, a financial planner, plans to formally announce Tuesday.

▪  Hanahan native Mark Heath, who runs an insurance brokerage business, plans to challenge state Sen. Larry Grooms, R-Berkeley, Heath said Monday.

▪  Scott Pyle plans to challenge state Sen. Luke Rankin, R-Horry.
