Donna Rice has nice things to say about Donald Trump
Some South Carolinians — including Republicans Gov. Nikki Haley and U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham — have some critical things to say about GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
But not Irmo High and University of South Carolina grad Donna Rice Hughes.
Hughes, who burst on the national scene as Donna Rice in a 1987 scandal that ended the presidential campaign of Democrat Gary Hart, praised Trump Monday for signing a proposal to make the internet safer for children, including preventing the sexual exploitation of children online.
"Mr. Trump's leadership and commitment to uphold the rule of law is demonstrated by his signing of the ‘Children's Internet Safety Presidential Pledge,’ " Hughes — chief executive of Enough is Enough, an internet safety advocacy group — said in a statement.
Democrat Hillary Clinton declined to sign the pledge, citing her campaign’s policy against signing pledges, according to Enough is Enough. However, Clinton does support the pledge’s goal, Hughes’ group said.
