Attending college can be pricey. And depending where students go in South Carolina, tuition can set them or their parents back for some time.

With that in mind, Business Insider used the College Board’s Trends in College Pricing and The Chronicle of Higher Education’s data to compile the most expensive college of every state.

For South Carolina, Furman University in Greenville made that list.

Furman is the oldest private university in South Carolina, founded in 1826, according to its website. About 2,600 students are enrolled at the school, though 28 percent are Palmetto State natives.

Attending Furman University would set back students $47,164 a year, in addition to $11,864 in room and board, according to Business Insider.

Though the news site did not list additional colleges, CollegeTuitionCompare.com ranked Wofford College in Spartanburg and Presbyterian College in Clinton as the second and third most expensive schools in the state, respectively.
