You’ve heard the stories about how South Carolina’s roads and bridges are crumbling.

But does your commute take you over some of S.C.’s crumbling bridges?

A new report by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association released Monday highlights how 926 – or 10 percent – of bridges in South Carolina’s roads are classified as structurally deficient.

The report went further, breaking down the state’s top traveled bridges that are structurally deficient.

In the Midlands, several bridges included in the Top 25 list are used heavily by daily commuters, including a bridge on Blossom Street that goes over railroad tracks between Huger and Gadsden streets near the Palmetto Compress and Warehouse.

An average of 29,100 commuters travel on that bridge, according to the report. Several interstate bridges also were included in the list:

▪ I-26 over a Southern Railway, south of 113 mile marker, but north of U.S. Route 321 in Richland County

▪ I-126 over a S.C.L Railroad in Richland County

▪ SC 277 northbound over I-77

▪ I-26 over a CSX Transportation line in Lexington County

▪ I-26 over U.S. 1 (locally named Augusta Road) in Lexington County

Some of the bridges are scheduled for repairs, while others are scheduled to be replaced by the S.C. Department of Transportation.

Take a look at the whole list below broken down by county.
