SC 3-year-old killed in hit-and-run
A 3-year-old boy was struck and killed on a major highway by an unknown vehicle on Monday.
Jayden Thiel, of Dorchester County, was on U.S. Highway 78 just west of Interstate 95 around 11:30 p.m., when an unknown vehicle hit him, according to a news release by the Dorchester County Corner’s Office. He was pronounced dead the scene.
S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. David Jones says a special team of state troopers is investigating the crash to determine what type of vehicle hit the child. Authorities have not said why the boy was in the road at that time.
