Child injured from fall in popular Oconee-area hiking destination

Oconee County Emergency Services reported a child was injured Sunday after falling in a popular hiking area.

Fire chief Charles King said emergency units responded to the Chatoogga River near Burrells Ford Road after a 4 p.m. report of a child falling a short distance from a waterfall. After receiving immediate help from family, the child was transported to Oconee Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said King.
