Jury issues being worked out in church shooting trial

Attorneys for the prosecution and defense in the federal trial of the 22-year-old man accused in the slayings of nine people at a South Carolina church disagree on how to select a jury.

In court documents filed Thursday, attorneys agree on most jury procedures for the case set for Nov. 7.

They agree between 1,200 and 1,500 jurors should be summoned. But they disagree about whether they should come from across South Carolina or just from the Charleston area.

Attorneys also disagree on how they will be able to question jurors in the initial pool and how jurors may be struck from the panel.

The issues will have to be worked out with the judge.
