Worker killed at construction site after truck rolls over him, officials say
A construction worker was killed at a work site Wednesday, according to the North Carolina Department of Labor.
The man was an employee of Triangle Grading & Paving who was working as a subcontractor for James N. Gray Co. at a project on Penny Road in High Point, Department of Labor spokesperson Dolores Quesenberry told The State Thursday.
Quesenberry said preliminary information shows the worker “was found underneath an off-road truck, after the truck rolled over his torso.”
The man’s identity has not been made public.
A James N. Gray Co. spokesperson said they’re “praying for the worker’s family,” WXII reported.
The death is being investigated by the state OSH Division, Quesenberry said. Similar investigations take three to four months, but OSH has six months to complete it, according to Quesenberry.
Quesenberry said the investigation will determine if the death was an accident.
The investigation will involve interviews and evidence collection at the construction site, and any “violations of safety and health standards will be noted and citations will be issued,” according to the Department of Labor.
The construction site is for “a new facility for Amada America, Inc.,” WXII reported. There is no word if construction resumed Thursday.
