Here are the North Carolina artists who are nominated for Grammy awards

Rapper J. Cole received several Grammy nominations — and he isn’t the only North Carolina artist to get a nod.

The nominations were announced Wednesday morning. The Grammy Awards will be televised Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. on CBS and hosted by Alicia Keys.

Here’s the list of nominated artists with North Carolina ties:

J. Cole, who grew up in Fayetteville and now lives in Raleigh, was nominated in the Best Rap Song Category for his solo song “Middle Child” and as a feature with J.I.D., Bas, EARTHGANG and Young Nudy on the Dreamville song “Down Bad.”

Another nomination came in the Best Rap/Sung Performance Category for a feature with Travis Scott on “The London” by Young Thug.

He was also nominated for Best Rap Song for “A Lot” with Dacoury Natche, 21 Savage and Anthony White.

In the Best Rap Album Category, his Dreamville label was nominated for “Revenge of the Dreamers III,” a compilation of songs from his roster of artists.

Granite Falls native Eric Church was nominated for Best Country Album for “Desperate Man.” He also got a nod in the Best Country Song category for “Some of It,” with Clint Daniels, Jeff Hyde & Bobby Pinson.

Country singer Luke Combs, who was born in Charlotte and grew up in Asheville, is nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Brooks & Dunn for “Brand New Man.”

Charlotte rapper DaBaby’s “Suge” made it into categories for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song with Jetsonmade and Pooh Beatz.

Rhiannon Giddens with Francesco Turrisi were nominated for Best American Roots Performance for “I’m on My Way.” The singer is from Greensboro.

Singer Iron & Wine made the list for “Years to Burn” in the Best Americana Album Category and “Father Mountain” in the Best American Roots Performance Category, both with Calexico. Iron & Wine, who also goes by the name Sam Beam, has called Chapel Hill home.

The band Bon Iver’s album “I, I” was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package with Aaron Anderson and Eric Timothy Carlson. The group’s “Hey, Ma” is also on the list for Record of the Year.

Band members Matt McCaughan and Jenn Wasner have ties to Durham.

Branford Marsalis, who lives in Durham and frequently performs in the Triangle, was nominated for Best Improvised Jazz Solo for “The Windup.” The Branford Marsalis Quartet was nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album for “The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul.”

Composer Caroline Shaw is on the list for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for “Shaw: Orange.” The recording is also under the category of Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for the Attacca Quartet. She is a Greenville native.

Che Apalache’s “Rearrange My Heart” is a nominee for Best Folk Album. Joe Troop, the band’s founder, is from Winston-Salem though the group was founded in Buenos Aires.
