Dad climbed into an air duct to avoid paying child support, NC cops say. He got stuck

A roundup of parents who failed to pay child support in North Carolina net more than one evasive maneuver, according to the sheriff’s office.

None were successful.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested 10 people on Thursday with outstanding warrants for failure to pay child support during a “delinquent Child Abuse fugitive roundup,” according to a news release.

Eight men and two women were arrested during the sweep, the sheriff’s office said. Six more were arrested for interfering with the deputies.

Two of them tried to cover for 34-year-old Daniel Worley by telling deputies he wasn’t home.

“Deputies discovered Worley hiding inside the HVAC vents,” the release states. “Worley had become stuck and had to be rescued by deputies before being taken to jail.”

Worley was charged with failure to pay child support, forgery, possession of drug paraphernalia, violating probation, resisting an officer and failing to comply, jail records show. His bond was set at $30,450.00.

Charles Tomlinson, 34, and Mandy Hall, 44, were charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, according to the release.

At another residence, Daniel Roehm was arrested after telling deputies that 49-year-old Robert Scott Harris wasn’t home.

“Deputies located and arrested Robert Harris hiding behind the recliner chair Roehm was sitting in,” the release states.

Michaela Greene and Charlotte Lawson tried to strong-arm deputies from another home after claiming 43-year-old Daniel Greene wasn’t there, according to the sheriff’s office.

They “slammed the door and attempted to prevent entry into the residence” before deputies forced their way in, the release states.
