Woman predicts she will win the lottery soon. The next day, she wins jackpot in NC
A North Carolina woman told a store clerk she had a feeling she was going to win the lottery soon. The next day, she won $1 million, lottery officials said.
Licette Griffin, 59, an IT worker from Greensboro, bought a $10 Jumbo Bucks ticket the day after predicting she would win, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
She went home to scratch her ticket and her hands started shaking when she realized she won, officials said.
“I called my husband and he immediately left work and came home,” Griffin said.
The woman said this year is “monumental” for the couple as it is their 25th wedding anniversary.
Griffin said she wants to go to Puerto Rico for a week with her husband to celebrate their anniversary, birthdays and this win, according to a news release.
“This win will allow us to celebrate the way we want to,” Griffin said, according to lottery officials.
The woman said she also plans to invest and donate to their church, according to the release.
Griffin took home $426,063 after tax withholdings, lottery officials said.
