A Boiling Springs man has been charged with two counts of murder after authorities said he confessed to shooting his parents to death.
Stephen Linwood Belcher, who turns 39 on Wednesday, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to arrest warrants out of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
Henrietta Green Belcher, 69, and William Edward Belcher, 69, were found dead in their home around 1 a.m., according to a statement from the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
Shortly after midnight, the couple’s daughter-in-law, deputies and EMS responded to the residence for a welfare check and discovered the victims, Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Kevin Bobo said in a statement.
Stephen Belcher was at the scene when deputies arrived, and he was taken to the Sheriff's Office, where he confessed to killing both of his parents, Bobo stated.
