After closing September 7 because of damage caused by the storm surge of Hurricane Irma, Fort Sumter National Monument reopens to the public Friday, September 22.

Repairs have been made to the dock and restrooms, and debris has been removed, the park service said in a news release on Thursday.

Normal operations for day trips to the Fort will resume with a total of five trips to the fort planned; three from Liberty Square and two from Patriots Point, the release stated.
