New study says South Carolina has the second worst drivers in the US

South Carolina drivers are the second worst in the country and one specific issue is to blame, according to a new study by QuoteWizard.

QuoteWizard is an insurance quotes comparison website owned by LendingTree.

Each year, the study uses incident data from website users, as well as data from the Federal Highway Administration to build its rankings.

The 2019 rankings included weighted data on accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs, citations and fatalities, but just one of those key metrics caused South Carolina’s to jump two spots from last year – DUIs.

QuoteWizard blamed a rise in DUIs for the state’s bad ranking, saying nearly half of all fatal crashes in South Carolina resulted from drunken driving.

Maine landed at no. 1 on the 2019 list. QuoteWizard determined Michigan has the best drivers.
