SC prison guard assaulted inmate, investigators say
An SC prison guard was arrested Tuesday after investigators said she assaulted an inmate in a state prison, according to a statement from the S.C. Department of Corrections.
Shataysha Quneeka Ocean was charged with assault and battery and misconduct in office, according to the statement.
While working at Evans Correctional Institution in April 2018, Ocean allegedly slapped an inmate in the face, according to her arrest warrant.
Evans Correctional is located in Bennettsville, and is a medium security institution.
