South Carolina State University was on lockdown for more than five hours after a shooting early Friday morning, the school said.
Two women were hurt in the shooting, SCSU President James Clark said in a press conference. Only one of the injured was a student at the school.
The shooting happened a little after midnight Friday, and the university notified students about the lockdown at about 2:30 a.m., according to WCSC.
“There is no longer an imminent threat to the campus community,” university officials said Friday morning.
The university lifted the lockdown just after 8 a.m.
