2 killed when car strikes tree on SC interstate

Two people died early Friday morning when the car they were traveling in went off an interstate entrance ramp and struck a tree.

The vehicle was attempting to merge onto Interstate 385 from S.C. Highway 14 around 1 a.m., according to S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Gary Miller.

The car went off of the entrance ramp and across the exit ramp before it slid down an embankment and struck a tree, killing both people aboard. They have not been identified by the Laurens County coroner’s office.

The collision occurred approximately three miles north of the town of Gray Court. Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the collision.
