21 people taken to hospitals after bus crash in South Carolina, officials say

Several people were hurt after a bus crash in Georgetown, South Carolina, officials say.

Twenty-one people were treated for “minor injuries” and were taken to hospitals on Tuesday morning, Midway Fire Rescue wrote on Twitter.

The crash involving a mass transit bus and another vehicle happened at the U.S. Route 17 bridge near Georgetown, a city roughly 35 miles southwest of Myrtle Beach.

Authorities early Tuesday asked people to stay away from the area. Later, the situation was declared “under control,” according to firefighters.

Officials say another 22 people involved in the wreck weren’t hurt.
