The most popular toy in South Carolina this Christmas is a childhood classic
This Christmas, South Carolina is sticking to the classics when it comes to toys.
A study by Reviews.org used data from Google Trends to find the most-searched-for, or most “popular,” Christmas toy nationwide and in each state this holiday season.
A Nerf gun is the most popular toy nationwide and in 11 states this year, the study found, followed by a Nintendo Switch in second place.
But if you’re still looking for a gift for a child in South Carolina, there’s no need to buy anything fancy. The most popular toy in the state this year is Play-Doh, the study found.
Play-Doh is also the most popular toy in three other states: Mississippi, Iowa and Alabama, according to the study, and it tied for third place nationwide along with American Girl dolls.
In North Carolina, people were searching for something a little more obscure: Blume dolls, the study found.
These dolls grow out of the flower pots they’re sold in when a sprinkle of water is added, the company’s website says. It’s a mystery which doll will grow out of each pot.
A Toy Story 4 Buzz Lightyear action figure, Scruff-a-Luvs, Owleez and a Barbie Playset were other popular toys across the country, the study found.
Scruff-a-Luvs are plush toys that arrive as “a sad, matted ball of fur” that need to be bathed, brushed and taken care of, the toy’s website says. Owleez are “interactive” baby owls that have to be taught how to fly, Amazon says.
