Clemson lost the national championship – but its fans won over New Orleans bartenders
Clemson didn’t come out on top in the National Championship — LSU had Joe Burrow, after all — and its mascot may need a costume change.
But the Tigers have one thing going for them — their fans.
A bartender in New Orleans all but made them honorary residents in a Facebook post on Tuesday that’s gone viral, calling them “polite, respectful, and generally well-behaved.”
“Coming from a city of tourists, you were a breath of fresh air,” he said. “I generally hope y’all had a wonderful time in the Big Easy, regardless of the outcome of the game.”
Tourists: Take a page out of their playbook, he goes on to say.
The post had been shared 3,700 times with 403 comments by Wednesday, many of them fellow members of the service industry expressing their gratitude.
“Ditto!!! This bartender agrees wholeheartedly with this post!!” the first commenter said.
Another encouraged Clemson fans to come back to New Orleans soon: “Every Clemson fan I met was gracious and kind, and everyone I know in the service industry agrees.”
The bartender replied with a bit of shade at an LSU rival.
“Take notes ‘Bama!”
