Body found during search for 18-year-old who may have drowned, South Carolina cops say

A dive team found a body during a search for an 18-year-old who may have drowned, South Carolina officials say.

Crews had been looking for the man in the water overnight Tuesday in Charleston, police said on Twitter.

Officers say the efforts were centered around a dock off Royal Assembly Drive, a residential area near creeks.

Authorities as of Wednesday morning hadn’t released details related to the discovery of the body, including the person’s identity or cause of death. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office didn’t immediately return a request for comment from McClatchy News.
