What are the best hospitals in South Carolina? Here are the latest rankings
The latest South Carolina hospital rankings are out, and some of the best providers also received national acclaim.
The Palmetto State’s top-ranked hospital is MUSC Health-University Medical Center, according to the U.S. News & World Report list published Tuesday — marking the sixth year in a row the hospital has been named South Carolina’s best.
The MUSC medical center, based in Charleston, earned a dozen high marks statewide, and was nationally recognized in seven different areas including treatment for cancer, and ear, nose and throat, gynecology, and placed in 10th for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery.
It placed 39 out of the nation’s top 50 hospitals, overall.
“These six consecutive years of recognition demonstrate that our teams remain committed to keeping the needs of patients as the focal points of what we deliver every day,” Patrick J. Cawley, MUSC Health CEO and vice president for Health Affairs, said in a statement. “With all the pressures bearing on the health care industry right now, especially during this pandemic, yet again earning this level of recognition as the leading health care organization in the Charleston area, the Lowcountry and the state engenders a tremendous sense of accomplishment and pride in our teams’ abilities to change what’s possible for those we serve.”
