If you’re a dessert lover, a Columbia bakery may be the best place to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Silver Spoon Bake Shop was named the top-ranking spot to get cookies in South Carolina, the restaurant review website Yelp said on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The business describes itself as a “local neighborhood bakery,” serving up treats with traditional flavors such as chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and iced sugar cookies, a customer favorite. Pumpkin spice sandwich cookies and chocolate cookies with fudge frosting and sea salt have also made their way onto the menu, according to past Facebook posts.

On Yelp, some Sliver Spoon Bake Shop customers said they couldn’t get enough of the cookies, helping the business earn the maximum 5-star rating. Online users also raved about other baked good offerings, including the shop’s biscuits, brownies and macarons.

Those interested in trying the sweets for themselves can order online before picking up their treats at the Devine Street shop.

“For the safety of our customers and employees, we are temporarily closed,” Silver Spoon Bake Shop said on its website as of Nov. 23, noting that preorder menus are typically posted on Wednesdays.

The business has been open since 2013 but pivoted to online sales at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. After the transition, shop owner Erin Nobles said some pickup orders sold out within hours or minutes, The State reported in April 2020.

“We have maxed out our capacity,” Nobles told the newspaper. “I never thought it would be like this.”

The bakery’s cookies were named the best in South Carolina after Yelp said it studied treat-related businesses on its website. Among places serving cookies, it evaluated “a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews” from January 2001 to Oct. 17, 2021.
