$1 million Powerball ticket sold in South Carolina. Winner hasn’t come forward yet
A South Carolina lottery player is expected to be much richer — but hasn’t claimed the prize.
The person won big after scoring a Powerball ticket worth $1 million, according to the S.C. Education Lottery.
The winner is set to pocket the winnings after stopping in Summerville, a town roughly 25 miles northwest of Charleston. While at the Refuel gas station, officials said someone tried their luck on a Powerball ticket for the Dec. 25 drawing.
It turns out, the ticket missed the bigger Christmas Day jackpot prize. But officials said it matched enough numbers to win $1 million.
The numbers drawn that day were: “27 - 29 - 45 - 55 - 58” and Powerball 2.
“Check your tickets,” the S.C. Education Lottery said in a news release about the prize.
The winner, who beat more than 1-in-11 million odds, hadn’t come forward as of about 10 a.m. Dec. 29, according to lottery spokesperson Holli Armstrong. South Carolina ticket holders have about six months to claim their prize money.
