Here’s where South Carolina ranks among the 10 states with the most job quitters

More people have quit their jobs in South Carolina during the ‘Great Resignation’ than all but one state in the nation, a new report shows.

According to data from personal finance website Wallet Hub, South Carolina had the second-highest rate of job resignations in February and over the last 12 months.

Using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Wallet Hub compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia, based on how frequently people are leaving their places of employment. The Great Resignation refers to the higher-than-normal rate in which Americans began quitting their jobs around spring last year as the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic began to ease.

As the economy has begun to recover from the pandemic, there has been a surge in job openings, giving workers more pay negotiating power and more employment opportunities.

Below are the 10 states with the highest number of job resignations in the last 12 months.

  1. Alaska
  2. South Carolina
  3. Georgia
  4. Delaware
  5. Kentucky
  6. Mississippi
  7. West Virginia
  8. Arizona
  9. Tennessee
  10. Montana
